The University of Michigan Aphasia Program (UMAP)
The University Center for the Development of Language and Literacy first started its aphasia treatment program in 1947, then called the Residential Aphasia Program, offering treatment options for veterans returning from World War II. In the past 60 years, adults who have language disorders as a result of a stroke, brain injury, or brain tumor have been receiving aphasia therapy treatment at UMAP. Come see why UMAP is one of the leading programs in the country in treating adults with aphasia.
It does not matter where you live or where you come from. You and your loved one could join other clients and caregivers coming from all regions of the United States as well as Canada and overseas. Clients attend UMAP with goals of improving their speaking, understanding, reading, and writing abilities through specialized, intensive speech-language therapy programs.
