University Center for the Development of the Language and Literacy (UCLL)
Our language and literacy evaluations are comprehensive assessments that provide parents with a clear understanding of their child’s competencies in the following areas:
  • expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language
  • speech/phonological processing disorders/apraxia
  • reading fluency and comprehension (dyslexia)
  • writing
  • spelling
  • specific language-learning disabilities
  • auditory processing
  • oral motor difficulties

Evaluations are performed by Master’s-level speech-language pathologists and take three to four hours. Parents are allowed to observe behind a one-way mirror. Following these evaluations, parents are provided with a report that outlines recommendations for speech and language therapy, at school and at home. Recommendations include the child’s present level of functioning and clearly outline the path he or she needs to take to get the needed support to succeed academically and in life.
