Core Preschool and Communication Therapy (Core PACT) is a program based on our popular and highly effective PACT program.* As with our original program, Core PACT addresses the communication needs of children ages 18-36 months who are struggling to learn language. The focus of this intensive program is structured language intervention in a small group setting of up to four children.
Program components include:
- Play-based intervention models led by a Master’s level speech-language pathologist and supported by a music therapist, graduate student interns, and volunteers
- Structured group language and social skills intervention in naturalistic settings, including music therapy techniques
- Pre-assessment for language skills, pragmatics, and play, as well as review of progress toward individualized goals
To be eligible for the program, children should be between the ages of 18-36 months, and have one or more of the following:
- A limited speaking vocabulary
- A delay in the ability to follow 1- or 2-step instructions
- A delay in demonstrating pretend play and/or stringing several actions together
- A delay in sharing interests with other peers or adults (joint attention)
- Poor eye contact
Parent/Guardian Commitment
A parent/guardian must be willing to attend each day and be an active participant throughout the program in order to learn interactive strategies to carry over into the home environment.
